In the year 1984, Riyaz and Muina Sadiq decided to open a school in Siliguri. Putting their faith in God and with the belief and support of their family, they put their entire savings together and rented a modest accommodation in Hakimpara, Siliguri. "Jermels Academy" was born with seven students on the rolls, one of whom was the founders son!
Today Jermels Academy stands on its own premises at Majhabari in an environment ideally suited for a school. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The batches of Class X and XII have passed out with excellent results. The school has good infrastructure for academics, games and activities. The management is committed towards constantly improving the quality of education given and they are well supported by a team of well qualified and dedicated staff.
The school runs Classes from L.K.G. to Class XII. In Class XI and XII, the streams offered are Science, Commerce and Humanities. The school is a Christian Minority Institution. It is run by the Jermels Educational Trust. The principal, Mr. Ejaz Sadiq, looks after the day to day administration and all aspects of academics. He is advised on policy issues by the Board of Governors which is appointed by the Trust.
The school lays great stress on Indian Cultural Values.
